it's saturday & i'm at one of my favorite haunts, sipping some "oohlong rejuvenating citrus tea", and although it was implied that it would be très déclassé to ask for sugar...i found it hard to tame my palate. somehow though, i couldn't stop thinking, had i been a brit, it would have been okay to ask for cream, right? WRONG!!!! this is the only premium organic tea shop in town, and according to the owner, "tea has an amino acid in it called L-theanine. L-theanine gets your body to produce its own dopamine and seratonin (your own sugar high so to speak), leaving a tea drinker more relaxed! it also gets your body to process the caffeine in a different way. a cup of coffee has 185 mg of caffeine, while a cup of black tea has about 40." so i ask myself again....is it really déclassé to ask for sugar? ABSOLUTELY! with the neurological mood enhancers of these fine teas, who needs "sucre"!

Food for thought...or should I say sip for thought.
