i was wonderin' "why we always got to be" singin’ for our food on tv? as if the new burger king commercial doesn't drive u mad with the square butts rendition, we now have a gospel choir singin' for subway sandwiches, “5…5…5 dollar foot longgg...” yeah, i know you've heard it. now my hand to God, i have never had to sing for my supper, nor have i ever found myself hummin’ snippets on my way to applebeez, although i plead the 5th on ice cream. ...and while i'm on this tangent, please tell me "why we always got to" call our fried chicken "bonafide"? do the creative directors of these commercials not believe we can identify with words like "savory or delectable"? who are they surveying anyway, the media? i know this is nothing new, because black folks have always been depicted as croonin' for cheeseburgers and dare i say "chicken" for some time now!! they even got us doin' a jig for "GRILLED" chicken now, (a new kind of chicken, right?) and pay close attention to the very very end, where the guy is shuckin' n' jivin' while grubbin'... CLICK HERE...... notice the brutha is the main event in this commercial....but had it been a commercial about banking, u may have seen only a glimpse of him at the ATM! i rest my case.
i'm just sayin, somethin' to think about while u got yr eyes glued to the set!
