Thursday

the first thing i do when i arrive in the office is rinse the skanky-dank off of my hands from riding the train. but that's only after i've walk 5 city blocks, passing the same guy e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y, reading his daily newspaper while waiting for his first walk-in. ...you see, the guy i pass on the way to work is a barber. a barber who sits there with a state of consciousness that i like to believe is composed, unhurried, unruffled and content with the day that lies ahead. he sits there in his comfy blue smock, legs crossed, newspaper upright, and totally oblivious to onlookers. my pace gets a little slower as i pass his shop each day, and it is only the shortness of time that keeps me from asking "are u as content as u appear?". in all honesty, the last time i think i was that content with my daily routine, was when i was in college. ...so by now, i think its safe to say that after 7 long weeks of working downtown, i kinda look forward to seeing this barber. there are even some days that i wish we could trade places, but most of the days, i realize, that he is really the medium that awakens my slumber.
but this is not meant to be another post, complaining about my new gig...but more or less, a post about "how did any of "us" end up here?"..."here" being, where you're sitting right now....dreams and all.

and let me be clear, i do realize, that not all of us are in the "us" category...but for those who are, i borrowed this fabulous animation by P. Reynolds to share with you. i urge you all to turn up the volume and please please watch it until the very very end, and ask yourself, is this me? PLEASE CLICK HERE, THANKS. IT MAY TAKE A COUPLE OF CLICKS & PATIENCE BEFORE IT COMES UP...U MAY WANT TO USE THAT TIME TO GET A TISSUE.....

Hello my Friend

Long time no speak to after the unusual month of July. I lost a long time friend and a long time "idol". We end up where we are because of our own decisions. There are no victims...we decide where we are going..because of the past experiences we go through.

If you say one word to this barber...chances are he'll think you're flirting. Need to see you soon.

Funny the ritualistic things we do to release and absorb life happenings.

hey nupe, you're probably right about the barber...but wouldn't it be awesome if he understood?

you're also right about "we decide where we're going". a friend told me last week, if u plan on doing "C" work, yr gonna get a "C" life. there are no excuses. so for curiosity alone, the most powerful structure that i've learned you should have is a plan. something to nurture & propel u to fertile ground, cuz barren ground is a reality check!!! LOL

thanks for yr comments!
lets chat soon
