dear Miss-appropriATE, (mĭs'ə-prō'prē-āt')

it has come to my attention that your name has defined you. webster has likened your entry to the tune of “wrongfully entrusting someone’s care”. whether its the audience you choose or the time you invest, i want u to know, i've been there. most of what i've learned about love is from the women in my life...mothers, aunts, cousins, friends. ...u see, it's been said that we of the fatherles.s tribe love d.i.f.f.e.r.e.n.t.l.y, and at times maybe inappropriately. perhaps too ready for the wrong person & not equipped for the right. ...i like to pretend that my love is always appropriate & that the-wrong-people-just-keep-gettin'-in-my-way...but it isn't always true. it is me, who gets in my way. secretly visualizing my dad in your dad, comparing characters like shaft, bill cosby and martin-luther-king. ...yeah, i said shaft....cuz' that's how long i been playin'! but however imperfect…i've learned to embrace the variations of my love! ...is it different from yours? maybe; is it real? most definitely. for me its like showing up on vacation with a suitcase of expectations, but not knowing the lay of the land. ...thru the bliss, the caution, the joy, the chase, the comfort, the anger, the heartache, and yes...even the toll; that fee we so eagerly pay for our liberty to love. ...to love with no boundaries; granted to the good, the bad & undeserving. ...but excuse me if i sound defensive; truth be told, we're not really that different from the awful normals who recite their parents anniversaries with high esteem? 20 years, 30 years, 40? is there some sacred line drawn from their longevity to their offsprings? ...cuz if there is, i'll embrace that too. u see, embracing is what we do best. ...maybe...jussst maybe, the power to embrace life & love simultaneously, is indeed a gift we of the tribe receive. i like to think of it as alchemy at its best... transferring something that one takes for granted, into something of greater value. {...yeahhh, that's what we do}

...and so i'll leave u with this. i believe it is better to be influenced by evidence, rather than persuasion - so find your own rhythm...balance...or firewall. we all inherit the same earth, so never let someone characterize you, unless they themselves can love you. it will never be accurate, precise or negotiable, because when it comes right down to it, we all love d.i.f.f.e.r.e.n.t.l.y.
