a friend of mine - who's currently studying graphic design - called me with a sense of urgency in his voice. when i answered the phone, he shouted "we have got to get ourselves together!" ...joining in on his enthusiasm, i asked what had prompted this sudden urgency. he mentioned that he had been asked to do an obituary program for a 65 yr old woman and in the program he was asked to type..."mrs. "so & so" loved gard.ening, shop.ping, danci.ng and watching the youn.g & the restl.ess at 11 o'clock and m.eet the br.owns in the afternoon." he then went on to recite who the woman had left behind to cherish her memory. ...mouth wide opened, i was waiting for more...i mean surely there was more to this woman than her t.v. lineup, right? ...i jokingly pleaded with my friend to call the family and request more information, but i later realized that ...maybe the t.v. lineup was a memorable event the family had cherished; i mean who am i to say she didn't have a bountiful harvest in her backyard from gardening...and maybe her love for shopping was a way of giving to others...and who knows...maybe she and her husband fell in love doing what she loved most, dancing!! ...in searching for more in a woman i never even knew, was i really searching for what you'd say about me?
